PlayStation Launches Free Live TV Service on PS5 in the U.S.
Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, a new free, ad-supported television experience available directly through PlayStation 5 consoles in the United States. The service gives PS5 players access to more than 100 live channels alongside a growing selection of on-demand entertainment.
Live TV on PS5 launched on August 31, 2026, and is provided by Sony Pictures Television. Programming spans movies, television shows, anime, sports, news, weather and creator-led content, with participating providers including Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, FOX, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel and UFC.
The service is integrated into the Media section of the PS5 home screen, giving console owners another free, ad-supported entertainment option directly from their console.
How to Access Live TV on PS5
Players can access the new service directly from the PS5 interface by connecting their PlayStation account.
To access Live TV on PS5:
- Open the Media tab from the PS5 home screen.
- Select the Live TV on PS5 icon.
- Select the option to sign in with a PlayStation account and start watching.
The service is free and supported by advertising. At launch, it is available to PS5 players in the United States.
More Than 100 Live Channels Available at Launch
Live TV on PS5 launches with more than 100 live channels covering several major entertainment categories. The selection includes content from established television networks and media companies as well as specialist and creator-led channels.
Movies are available across genres including action, horror and science fiction. Featured channels include MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits and Cinevault.
The television selection includes shows such as Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA and Fear Factor. Ice Road Truckers from A+E’s HISTORY is also part of the launch lineup.
This gives PS5 users access to both live programming and a selection of on-demand entertainment through the console’s Media section.
Anime Includes Naruto, Death Note and More
Anime is another major part of the initial Live TV on PS5 lineup.
The launch selection includes several well-known anime titles:

- Death Note
Crunchyroll is among the content providers supporting the service. PlayStation also highlights exclusive Black Clover and Box Sets channels from Crunchyroll among the anime options available through Live TV on PS5.
Sports Coverage Includes UFC, NASCAR and FOX Sports
Sports programming is also included in the service. Live TV on PS5 features content covering MMA, football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing and soccer.
Among the sports brands and channels available at launch are FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now and UFC. NFL Channel is also among the content providers highlighted by PlayStation.
News, Weather and Creator Content Join the Lineup
Live TV on PS5 also includes national, local and international news and weather coverage. NBC News Now, FOX Weather and LiveNOW from FOX are among the services available at launch.
Beyond traditional TV programming, Sony is adding creator and specialty content to the platform. Featured programming includes Hot Ones, Spotify’s The Ringer, Futcrunch and Idle Mode.
Other categories include gaming, esports, documentaries, podcasts, comedy and action sports. PlayStation also highlights eCLUTCH as exclusive programming available through the service.

Live TV on PS5 Could Expand Beyond the U.S.
The initial rollout is limited to PS5 players in the United States, but Sony has confirmed that the service will continue to evolve.
Programming will be refreshed regularly, with new channels and additional content planned over time. Sony is also looking to expand Live TV on PS5 to Canada and will continue exploring additional regions.
No launch date for Canada has been announced, and Sony has not confirmed which other countries could receive the service.
PS5 Expands Its Entertainment Options Beyond Games
Live TV on PS5 expands the console’s Media section with a new free, ad-supported entertainment option. The service is currently available in the U.S., while Sony is considering an expansion to Canada and additional regions.
