Roblox Announces Browser Play, Offline Games and New Creator Tools at RDC 2026
Roblox has announced a series of new gaming and creation features at the Roblox Developers Conference 2026, including browser-based play, upcoming offline support, new ways to publish standalone games and a broader range of AI-powered development tools.
The announcements were made at RDC on September 11, 2026, as Roblox marked its 20th anniversary. The company said players spent 29 billion hours on Roblox during the previous quarter across more than 180 countries.
The roadmap covers changes for both players and creators. Roblox plans to make experiences easier to access outside its traditional app, expand support for new game formats and give creators additional creation, discovery and monetization tools.
Roblox Games Are Coming Directly to Web Browsers
One of the most significant changes announced at RDC 2026 is browser-based gameplay.
By the end of 2026, players will be able to join Roblox experiences directly through Chrome from an Experience Details Page, with no app or installation required. Support for additional browsers is planned later.
The web player will allow users to follow a link from places such as search, YouTube, X, email or a creator’s social channel and start playing directly in the browser.
Roblox is also developing a broader initiative called Roblox Everywhere. Under this plan, creators will have the option to make their games available as standalone applications across mobile devices, PCs and consoles, with Roblox providing the underlying technology and services.
Offline Roblox Games Are Planned for 2027
Roblox is also preparing to support offline play, expanding the situations in which some experiences can be used.
Over the next year, creators will be able to enable offline solo play alongside a live multiplayer mode. Roblox says offline play will become available by mid-2027, with early access coming sooner.
The feature is intended for situations where internet access is unavailable or unreliable, including subway journeys, flights and other environments with limited connectivity.
Offline play will be enabled by creators for supported experiences and will operate alongside their live multiplayer modes.
Roblox Adds New Communication Features
Roblox is also expanding the ways players can communicate and coordinate between experiences.
A new Friends chat tab follows players across games, allowing friends to coordinate and move into another game together. Roblox has also released voice typing, which allows players to speak instead of typing while playing.
Later in 2026, creators will be able to add pre-set Quick Words to their games. These phrases are proactively reviewed for policy compliance and are designed to help players of different ages coordinate gameplay safely.
Some of the main player-focused announcements from RDC 2026 include:
- Browser-based Roblox experiences through Chrome by the end of 2026
- Offline solo play planned for mid-2027
- Standalone game distribution across mobile, PC and consoles through Roblox Everywhere
- A Friends chat tab that works across games
- Voice typing during gameplay
- Pre-set Quick Words planned for later in 2026
Roblox Is Expanding Beyond 3D Multiplayer Games
Roblox is also changing its engine to make it easier for creators to develop game formats beyond the 3D multiplayer experiences traditionally associated with the platform.
The company is adding an orthographic camera, animated image containers and direct sprite-sheet import. New interface capabilities include blur, text shadows and improved gradients.
These additions expand support for 2D and puzzle games.
Roblox is also developing support for more turn-based and asynchronous multiplayer experiences. A new notification system will alert players when it is their turn. The feature is scheduled to enter Studio Beta in October 2026, followed by a full release by the end of the year.
Several other features announced at RDC 2026 also have confirmed or planned release windows:
| RDC 2026 Announcement | Planned Availability |
|---|---|
| Turn-based notification system | Studio Beta in October 2026 |
| Full release of turn-based notifications | By the end of 2026 |
| Scene Generator | Later in 2026 |
| Roblox Wallet | Later in 2026 |
| Roblox Card | Rollout planned for 2027 |
Roblox Expands AI-Powered Game Creation
RDC 2026 also brought several announcements focused on game development.
Build, a creation feature available through a new tab in the Roblox app, allows users to create games using prompts. According to Roblox data through September 1, creators participating in the New Zealand alpha had published approximately 9,000 games through Build. Among the thousands of users who created a game with the feature, 71% had never previously used Roblox Studio.
The Build public alpha is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore. Roblox also provided creators attending RDC 2026 with access to Build. The expansion adds new tools, including an asset library, desktop access and iterative control. Roblox has also shared early progress toward connecting Build and Studio more closely.
Another major development is Scene Generator. Scheduled for later in 2026, the technology will introduce prompt-to-scene functionality across Build and Studio. Creators will be able to provide a text prompt and reference image to generate a fully functional layout and then continue refining it in Studio.
Roblox Changes How Games Are Discovered
Roblox is also modifying its discovery systems to connect different audiences with relevant experiences.
The company’s discovery ranking system is increasingly age-aware and now looks beyond engagement during the first week, considering performance over the first 28 days and beyond. Roblox is also testing discovery optimization based on how many new players an experience brings to the platform.
Moments, a feature where users can watch gameplay videos and move directly into games, is now fully available in the United States, although availability and features can vary by age and region.
Later in September 2026, videos from a game’s Experience Details Page will begin appearing in Moments. In October, users will be able to tap avatars shown in the tab to purchase displayed items or backgrounds. Roblox also plans to make games created with Build playable directly within Moments in the coming months.
Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card Target Creator Earnings
Roblox also announced new financial tools for eligible creators.
Since the Developer Exchange program launched in 2013, creators have earned more than $5 billion on Roblox. The company says creators earned approximately $1.7 billion over the previous 12 months, based on data through June 30, 2026. Roblox Plus incentives also generated more than 300 million Robux in creator earnings during their first four months, based on data through August 17, 2026.
Roblox Wallet is planned to begin rolling out later in 2026 to eligible U.S.-based independent creators aged 18 and older. The account will be accessible through Creator Hub, with earnings paid out in real currency every business day as holds clear. International expansion is planned for the year ahead.
Roblox Card will connect to Roblox Wallet and allow creators to spend their available balance directly wherever the card is accepted. Its rollout is planned to begin in 2027.
Roblox Plans Major Platform Changes Through 2027
The RDC 2026 announcements show Roblox expanding how players access experiences and how creators build, distribute, discover and monetize them. The roadmap includes changes to gameplay, communication, creation tools, discovery and creator payments, with features rolling out across 2026 and 2027.
Several of these features are still in development, and availability and features may vary by age and region.
For players who already use the platform, Baxity Store offers Roblox gaming credits in multiple regional currencies and denominations, including USD, EUR, BRL, MXN, PLN, SAR, AED and IDR options. Users should check the region and currency of a Roblox voucher before purchasing to make sure it is suitable for the account where it will be redeemed.
