Valve’s Steam Deck is once again available for purchase after spending several months out of stock. The handheld gaming PC had been difficult to obtain since February 2026, as RAM and storage component shortages continued to affect hardware availability across the technology industry.
The company has resumed shipments through its official store, with current delivery estimates ranging from three to five days. Alongside the return of availability, Valve has also introduced updated pricing for its OLED Steam Deck models.
Steam Deck OLED Models Receive New Prices
The 512GB OLED Steam Deck is now priced at $789, compared to its previous $549 retail price. The 1TB OLED model is now available for $949, up from its earlier $649 price point.
In addition to expanded storage capacity, the 1TB version includes an anti-glare display coating, an upgraded carrying case, and an exclusive startup movie and keyboard theme.
The previously available LCD Steam Deck model with 256GB of storage and a $399 price tag is no longer part of the lineup. Valve had announced the discontinuation of this version before the latest pricing adjustments were introduced.
Component Costs Continue to Impact Hardware Pricing
According to Valve, the Steam Deck hardware itself has not changed. The company stated that the updated pricing reflects current component costs and broader logistical challenges affecting the technology industry.
Over the past several months, memory and storage shortages have contributed to rising costs across multiple categories of consumer electronics, affecting both availability and pricing.
Competing Handheld Gaming Devices See Similar Pricing Trends
The updated Steam Deck pricing comes as many competing handheld gaming devices have also experienced higher price points.
Steam Machine Remains Planned for Release
The updated Steam Deck pricing has also drawn attention to Valve’s upcoming Steam Machine desktop gaming system, which was announced in late 2025.
Valve plans to launch the device later this year. The Steam Machine recently appeared in a database of devices conforming to the Vulkan graphics API, indicating continued progress toward release.
Alongside the Steam Deck and Steam Machine announcements, Valve has already released its new Steam Controller, which is currently available for $99.
